WAEC WITHHOLDS RESULTS OF CANDIDATES FROM 50 SCHOOLS OVER ALLEGED EXAMINATION MALPRACTICE
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the withholding of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results of candidates from 50 secondary schools across Nigeria over alleged cases of examination malpractice.
The development was contained in an official notice issued by the Council and dated 2 August 2026, addressed to principals and heads of public and private secondary schools nationwide.
WAEC Gives Schools 14 Days to Respond
According to the notice, the affected schools are required to submit a detailed report explaining the alleged malpractice incidents within 14 days from the date of the notification.
WAEC warned that failure to comply with the directive may attract further sanctions in accordance with the Council's regulations.
The examination body stated that the action was taken in line with the WAEC Bye-Laws on Examination Malpractice, pending the conclusion of investigations.
50 Schools Affected Across Nigeria
The affected institutions are spread across several states of the federation, including Lagos, Oyo, Rivers, Kano, Enugu, Kaduna, Delta, Benue, Cross River, Bauchi, Katsina, Niger, Ondo, Akwa Ibom, Kogi, Nasarawa, Taraba, Edo, Sokoto, Ogun, Bayelsa, and others.

- Christ Apostolic Grammar School, Ibadan
- Greenfield Academy, Abuja
- Dominion Comprehensive College, Port Harcourt
- Ideal Comprehensive College, Enugu
- Heritage College, Jos
- Great Minds College, Kaduna
- Excellent Scholars Academy, Kano
- City Gate College, Ilorin
- Noble Hall School, Warri
- Springfield College, Ondo
- Royal Heritage Academy, Calabar
- Bright Future Academy, Bauchi
- Prestige College, Lagos
- Hallmark Academy, Owerri
- Graceland College, Akure
- Oxford College, Ibadan
- Hope Academy, Lafia
- Faith Comprehensive College, Uromi
- Topfaith International School, Jalingo
A total of 50 schools were listed in the official notice.

WAEC clarified that the withholding of results is based on alleged cases of examination malpractice and does not amount to a final decision.
The Council will review reports submitted by the affected schools before determining whether the withheld results will be released or cancelled.
