The Chairman of Senate, Professor Okechuku Onuchuku, following an emergency Senate meeting on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, is pleased to announce key updates regarding the university's upcoming convocation and significant elevations within the academic staff.
I. 44TH CONVOCATION CEREMONY SCHEDULE
His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara GSSRS, the Executive Governor of Rivers State and Visitor to the University, has approved the new dates for the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) 44th Convocation Ceremony:
- Friday, 8th May 2026: Award of First Degrees and Prizes.
- Saturday, 9th May 2026: Conferment of Postgraduate Degrees.
II. ELEVATION OF ACADEMIC STAFF TO PROFESSORIAL RANKS
The University Council has ratified the promotion of seventy-six (76) academic staff members. Specifically, thirty-five (35) staff have been elevated to the rank of Professor, and forty-one (41) have been promoted to the rank of Reader (Associate Professor).
