ADEKUNLE AJASIN UNIVERSITY GIVES UPDATE ON ONGOING ASUU STRIKE, ASSURES STUDENTS OF EARLY RESOLUTION

The management of Adekunle Ajasin University (AAUA), Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, has assured students and members of the university community that the ongoing industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is receiving the attention of the Ondo State Government and is expected to be resolved soon.

The assurance was contained in an official press statement issued by the University's Management while reacting to reports of a purported 72-hour ultimatum allegedly issued to the Ondo State Government by the Students' Union Executives over the prolonged strike.

Management Says Government Has Intervened

The statement, signed by the Deputy Registrar, Information, Protocol and Public Relations, Mr. Sola Imoru, explained that the issues responsible for the industrial action are already being addressed through a special intervention by the state government.

According to the University, the Governor of Ondo State and Visitor to the University, His Excellency, Hon. (Dr.) Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has approved a special intervention fund to enable the institution meet its financial obligations.

Management disclosed that the process of releasing the approved funds is already underway.

Students Asked to Remain Calm

The University described the reported 72-hour ultimatum as unnecessary, noting that the intervention by the state government had already been communicated to the leadership of the Students' Union.

The statement read:

> "Management considers the ultimatum unnecessary as the Governor of Ondo State and Visitor to the University, His Excellency, Hon. (Dr.) Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has already approved a special intervention fund to enable the University to meet its financial obligations."

It further stated that the development had been discussed with the Students' Union leadership.

The management appealed to all students to remain calm and exercise patience while the payment process initiated by the state government is being finalized.

AAUA Urges Student Leaders to Seek Clarification

The University also advised the Students' Union leadership to always verify information with the management before making public statements on issues affecting the institution.

According to the statement, constructive dialogue remains the best means of resolving issues within the university community.

Management noted that:

> "The University Management encourages the Students' Union leadership to always seek clarification on matters affecting the University before making public pronouncements."
