Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) has announced that it will hold its 12th Inaugural Lecture on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the University's Main Campus, Ikot Akpaden, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
The lecture, which forms part of the University's commitment to promoting academic excellence, research, and intellectual engagement, is expected to bring together members of the university community, scholars, researchers, students, stakeholders, and the general public.
According to the university management, the inaugural lecture will be delivered by Professor (Mrs.) Jemimah Timothy Ekanem, a Professor of Agricultural Extension (Rural Sociology and Development).
The lecture is titled:
"Good Intentions, Uneven Outcomes: Co-Creating Agricultural Extension for Sustainable Rural Development."
The event is scheduled to commence at 2:00 p.m. and will take place at the TETFUND Conference Centre, Akwa Ibom State University Main Campus, Ikot Akpaden.
The Vice-Chancellor of Akwa Ibom State University, Professor OtoAbasi Akpan, OON, FHSN, has extended a warm invitation to members of the university community, academics, policymakers, development practitioners, stakeholders, alumni, students, and the general public to attend the lecture.
According to the university, the inaugural lecture will provide an opportunity to examine the evolving role of agricultural extension services in achieving sustainable rural development. It is expected to highlight the successes, challenges, and realities surrounding agricultural intervention programmes while exploring collaborative approaches to improving rural livelihoods and agricultural productivity.
The management noted that the event is one of the University's major academic engagements aimed at encouraging research dissemination, scholarly discourse, and practical solutions to national development challenges.
