The Management of *Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka*, wishes to formally brief the student body regarding the current industrial action embarked upon by the *Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU)* and the *Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU)*, which took effect on May 1, 2026.
I. IMPACT ON UNIVERSITY SERVICES
Students are advised to note that this strike action primarily involves non-academic and senior administrative staff. Consequently, certain administrative and support services across the various campuses may be limited or temporarily unavailable during this period.
II. GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION
Management remains in close communication with relevant authorities and wishes to assure students that the Federal Government is actively engaging with the leadership of both unions. The goal of these negotiations is to resolve the disputed issues and ensure a swift return to normalcy for all administrative operations.
III. STATUS OF ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES
Critically, students should note the following regarding their studies:
- Academic Calendar: The university’s academic calendar remains fully in force.
- Lectures: All academic staff are not part of this specific industrial action; therefore, lectures will continue as scheduled.
- Attendance: Students are expected to remain on campus and attend all lectures, practicals, and other academic engagements without interruption.
CONCLUSION
Management solicits the understanding and cooperation of all students during this period. We remain committed to providing a stable learning environment despite these administrative challenges.
Please be guided accordingly and remain focused on your academic pursuits.
