In a significant stride toward medical excellence, the *Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN)* has officially granted accreditation to the College of Health Sciences at the *Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA)*.
The seal of approval was delivered on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, following an intensive accreditation visit by an MDCN delegation led by the Deputy Registrar, Dr. Nnaemeka Nwakanma. This milestone authorizes FUTA to proceed with its *Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB)* programme with an approved admission quota of 100 medical students.

The MDCN delegation conducted a thorough inspection of the human and material resources across the Basic Medical, Basic Clinical, and Clinical Sciences. The assessment confirmed that FUTA meets the global best practices required for medical education.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji, emphasized that this achievement is the result of diligent structural planning and a commitment to excellence. She assured the Council that FUTA is ready to implement all recommendations to further strengthen the College.
Professor Victor Ukwenya, the Acting Provost, provided the delegation with a strategic overview of the College’s organogram and operating guidelines, highlighting a design intended to bridge the gap between preclinical and clinical training seamlessly.
