FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY, OWERRI ANNOUNCES 2026/2027 POST-UTME & DIRECT ENTRY SCREENING EXERCISE
The management of Federal University of Technology, Owerri has officially commenced the 2026/2027 Post-UTME and Direct Entry (DE) Screening Exercise for admission into its various undergraduate programmes.
Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified candidates who participated in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) or applied for Direct Entry admission.
The university stated that the screening exercise will be fully digital and based on verified JAMB scores and uploaded O’Level results on the JAMB CAPS platform.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Candidates eligible to apply include:
- Candidates who selected FUTO as their first choice institution during JAMB registration.
- Candidates who scored a minimum of 150 in the 2026 UTME.
- Direct Entry applicants with relevant qualifications.
- Candidates who did not initially choose FUTO but are willing to process a Change of Institution through JAMB before the deadline.
The institution also emphasized that:
- Applicants must be at least 16 years old by September 30, 2026.
- Candidates must possess at least five O’Level credit passes including English Language and Mathematics in not more than two sittings.
- MBBS applicants must obtain all required credits in ONE sitting.
IMPORTANT REGISTRATION TIMELINE
- Application Commencement: Friday, May 22, 2026
- Application Deadline: Friday, July 31, 2026
- O’Level Upload Deadline on JAMB CAPS: August 17, 2026

SCREENING PROCESS
The university explained that the screening exercise will rely on:
- Verified JAMB scores
- Uploaded O’Level results
- Accurate candidate data on CAPS
Candidates were warned to ensure that all details on the FUTO portal correspond exactly with their JAMB records, including:
- Date of birth
- Names
- State of origin
- Course selection
Any mismatch may result in automatic disqualification during verification.
DIRECT ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Direct Entry applicants must possess:
- A’Level qualifications
- OND/HND
- First Degree in relevant disciplines
Additionally:
- Certificates must be verified on JAMB CAPS.
- Official transcripts must reach the Registrar, FUTO, on or before August 17, 2026.
METHOD OF APPLICATION
Eligible candidates are to:
- Visit the university portal https://portal.futo.edu.ng/#undergraduate
- Generate payment invoice using JAMB Registration Number.
- Pay the non-refundable screening fee of ₦2,000 using:
- ATM card
- Bank payment
- Remita platform
- Return to the portal and complete the application form.
- Upload all required documents correctly.
- Submit and print acknowledgment slip.
IMPORTANT ADMISSION NOTICE
FUTO reiterated that:
- Only candidates who upload their O’Level results to JAMB CAPS before the deadline will be considered for admission.
- Candidates must use active phone numbers and email addresses for communication.
- Course selected on JAMB CAPS must match the course selected on the FUTO portal.
The university further advised candidates to carefully monitor updates concerning the admission exercise.
