FG CONFIRMS SEPTEMBER 14 RESUMPTION FOR ALL FEDERAL UNITY COLLEGES NATIONWIDE
The Federal Ministry of Education has reaffirmed that all Federal Unity Colleges across Nigeria will resume academic activities on Monday, September 14, 2026, as scheduled.
The Ministry assured students, parents, guardians, teachers and other stakeholders that necessary arrangements have been put in place to ensure a safe, peaceful and smooth commencement of the new academic session.
The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, gave the assurance, stressing that the safety and wellbeing of students and staff remain a priority of the Federal Government.
Security Arrangements in Place
According to the Minister, relevant security agencies have been informed of the resumption arrangements and are maintaining heightened vigilance around Federal Unity Colleges and their immediate environments.
The coordinated security efforts are aimed at protecting students, staff and members of the wider school communities as academic activities resume nationwide.
The Minister therefore urged parents and guardians to remain calm, rely on information from official sources and make the necessary preparations to ensure that their children and wards return to their respective Federal Unity Colleges on Monday, September 14, 2026.
School Authorities Directed to Ensure Safe Resumption
Dr. Alausa also directed school authorities to maintain close coordination with relevant security agencies and other appropriate authorities to facilitate an orderly and secure resumption.
He called on students, parents, teachers, school administrators and other stakeholders to work together to maintain a peaceful, supportive and secure learning environment.
The Minister emphasized that the safety and wellbeing of learners is a shared responsibility.
Federal Government Reaffirms Commitment to Education
The Federal Ministry of Education stated that it will continue to monitor developments and take necessary measures, in collaboration with relevant authorities, to ensure the safe and smooth resumption of academic activities in all Federal Unity Colleges nationwide.
The Ministry further reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Nigeria's education system and ensuring that Nigerian children have access to quality education in a safe and conducive learning environment.
According to the Ministry, this commitment aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which recognizes education and human capital development as essential to Nigeria's sustainable growth and national development.
The Federal Ministry of Education has therefore assured students, parents, guardians, teachers and the general public that all necessary arrangements are in place for a safe, peaceful and successful resumption across Federal Unity Colleges nationwide.
