The Nigerian government has revoked previous limitations on NYSC member placements, now permitting youth corps participants to serve in corporate establishments, including financial institutions and the petroleum industry. This significant policy adjustment, beginning with the 2024 Batch 'C' Orientation Program, seeks to address rising youth joblessness and boost career readiness.

Youth Development Minister Comrade Ayodele Olawande revealed this policy shift, which supersedes the earlier mandate that confined deployments to educational institutions, agricultural enterprises, healthcare facilities, and infrastructure development. Government officials maintain that the previous restrictions prevented corps members from acquiring industry-specific experience related to their academic backgrounds. This initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's broader agenda of expanding employment prospects and enhancing professional competency among fresh graduates entering the labor market.
