The Management of Abia State University (ABSU), Uturu, has officially announced the date and procedural guidelines for its 44th Matriculation Ceremony. This event serves as the formal act of admitting new students into the university’s academic community for the current session. All fresh students are required to take the matriculation oath to secure their status as bonafide members of the institution.

The ceremony is designed to be a centralized event where the Vice-Chancellor and members of the University Senate will be in attendance to oversee the proceedings.

Eligibility for Matriculation
Participation is strictly reserved for students who have fulfilled their administrative and financial obligations to the university. The following categories of students are expected to matriculate:
All First-Year Undergraduate students (Regular and ICE) who have fully paid their school fees.
Postgraduate students who are not alumni of Abia State University.
Any other duly admitted and cleared students who missed their matriculation in previous years due to valid reasons.
Financial Requirements and Gown Collection
To participate in the academic procession, students must be dressed in the official university regalia. The total cost for hiring the matriculation gown, cap, and purchasing the ceremony brochure is ₦15,000.00 (Fifteen Thousand Naira).
Students must make this payment exclusively at the ABSU Micro-Finance Bank, Uturu. The deadline for payment is Tuesday, 24th February, 2026. The issuance of these materials will begin at the various faculty offices on Wednesday, 25th February, 2026.
Mandatory Compliance and Protocol
The university emphasizes that the matriculation ceremony is compulsory for all fresh students. Only those who have formally accepted their offer of admission on the JAMB and University portals, paid their school fees in full, and completed their course registration are eligible to take the oath. Students are advised to complete these processes early to avoid being excluded from the matriculation register.
Failure to matriculate often results in the forfeiture of admission, as the matriculation number—which is essential for all official university records—is only finalized after this ceremony. Students are urged to be properly guided by these directives to ensure a successful induction.
