The Office of the Dean, Student Affairs, hereby formally notifies the University community that the Hostel Registration Portal for the 2025/2026 Academic Session is scheduled to go live on Friday, 10th April 2026.

To ensure a transparent and seamless application process, all eligible students must strictly adhere to the following regulatory guidelines:

I. ELIGIBILITY AND ACCESS CRITERIA

  • Fee Clearance: The portal is strictly reserved for newly admitted and eligible returning students who have successfully completed the payment of their 2025/2026 School Registration Fees.
  • Portal Address: Eligible students should access the registration link at https://hostel.akum.edu.ng on or after the official commencement date.

II. ALLOCATION POLICY

  • First-Come, First-Served: Due to high demand and limited capacity, bed spaces shall be allocated based on the order of successful application. Students are strongly encouraged to initiate their applications promptly once the portal opens.
  • Non-Automatic Occupancy: Please be advised that the successful payment of accommodation fees does not constitute an automatic right of occupancy.

III. DOCUMENTATION AND PHYSICAL OCCUPANCY

To finalize the allocation and gain physical possession of a bed space, students must:

  1. Generate and print their payment evidence from the portal.
  2. Present the evidence to their respective Hall Administrators.
  3. Complete all mandatory documentation as required by the Hall of Residence.

IV. CODE OF CONDUCT AND FACILITY MANAGEMENT

  • Prohibition of Illegal Transfers: The sale, purchase, or unauthorized transfer of bed spaces is strictly prohibited. Any student found engaging in "squatting" or the commercialization of university property will face disciplinary action as stipulated in the Student Handbook.
  • Property Responsibility: Occupants are held legally and financially responsible for all university property within their units. Vandalism, misuse, or neglect of hostel facilities will attract stiff penalties and administrative surcharges.

V. ADMINISTRATIVE ADVISORY

Students are advised to ensure they have a stable internet connection and their registration details ready before the portal opens to avoid delays. For technical issues, please contact the ICT Support Desk or the Student Affairs Directorate.

Please be guided accordingly.
