16TH MATRICULATION CEREMONY – AKWA IBOM STATE UNIVERSITY (AKSU)

The Vice-Chancellor and Chairman of Senate, Prof. Otoabasi E. Akpan, on behalf of the University Management, cordially invites staff members, students, parents, and the general public to the 16th Matriculation Ceremony of Akwa Ibom State University.

This ceremony marks the formal induction of newly admitted students into the academic community for the current session, where they will take the matriculation oath of allegiance to the institution.

I. EVENT SCHEDULE AND LOGISTICS

To ensure a dignified and orderly academic procession, the ceremony has been scheduled as follows:

• Date: Friday, April 24, 2026
• Time: 12:00 Noon Prompt
• Venue: AKSU Sports Ground, Main Campus, Ikot Akpaden
• Arrival Protocol: All guests, staff, and matriculating students are expected to be arrived and seated by 11:30 A.M. prompt.

II. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE CEREMONY

• Academic Induction: The matriculation ceremony is a statutory requirement for all fresh students. It signifies their formal admission into the university and confers upon them the full rights and privileges of studentship.
• The Matriculation Oath: Students will pledge to uphold the values of AKSU, maintain academic integrity, and abide by the rules and regulations governing the institution.
• Community Celebration: The management views this as a vital opportunity for the university community to welcome the next generation of scholars and professionals.

III. ADMINISTRATIVE ADVISORY FOR STUDENTS

• Academic Gowns: Matriculating students are advised to contact their respective Faculty Officers for the collection of academic regalia.
• Procession: Students must be properly robed and ready to join the academic procession according to their faculties.
• Conduct: High standards of decorum are expected throughout the event. Unauthorized movement during the Vice-Chancellor’s address or the administration of the oath is strictly prohibited.

IV. INFORMATION FOR GUESTS

The institution highly appreciates the presence of parents and invited guests. Dedicated parking and seating areas will be provided at the Main Campus to ensure a comfortable and memorable experience for all participants.
