The management of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU) has announced new security measures affecting vehicular and human traffic at some of the institution’s major entry points.
The development was communicated through an internal memorandum issued by the Chief Security Officer, Onuib Emmanuel Attah, on March 11, 2026. The notice informed both staff and students about immediate adjustments to the access protocols at the university gates.
According to the memorandum, both sides of the main gate of Prince Abubakar Audu University will now be opened for both entry and exit of vehicles and pedestrians. The change is expected to improve the movement of traffic, particularly during busy periods when many students and staff are entering or leaving the campus.
University authorities believe that allowing traffic in both directions at the main gate will help reduce congestion and make movement around the campus more convenient for members of the university community.
However, the memo also introduced a different rule regarding the stadium gate. According to the new directive, the stadium gate has been designated strictly as an exit route. This means that vehicles and motorcycles will no longer be allowed to enter the campus through that gate.
With the new arrangement, individuals who wish to enter the campus with vehicles or motorcycles are required to use the main gate, while the stadium gate will only serve those exiting the university.
The management of Prince Abubakar Audu University emphasized that the adjustment is part of ongoing efforts to restructure and strengthen security operations within the campus while also ensuring smoother movement of people and vehicles.
Staff and students were therefore advised to comply with the new traffic arrangement and cooperate fully with security personnel stationed at the gates.
The notice also warned that failure to follow the new protocol could lead to unnecessary inconvenience or embarrassment when dealing with campus security officials.
The memorandum concluded with an appeal for understanding and cooperation from members of the university community as the new access procedures take effect. The Chief Security Officer thanked staff and students for their anticipated support in ensuring the successful implementation of the new system.
