Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has announced that its 20th Convocation Ceremony will take place from Wednesday, June 17 to Saturday, June 20, 2026.
The announcement was made by the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, during the 242nd Senate meeting of the institution. The meeting was held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at the Zephaniah Madubuko Auditorium located within the Faculty of Social Sciences at Nnamdi Azikiwe University.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, the convocation ceremony will provide an opportunity for graduands of the 2024/2025 academic session to formally receive their certificates during the four-day programme. The event will also include the award of honorary degrees and the bestowment of Emeritus Professorial titles on distinguished personalities.
Prof. Anyaehie further revealed that the university may hold another convocation ceremony later in the year, tentatively scheduled for November 2026. The proposed date is expected to coincide with the birthday anniversary of Nnamdi Azikiwe, popularly known as “Zik of Africa.”
The Vice-Chancellor also reassured members of the university community that the welfare of students and staff remains a top priority during his five-year administration as the Chief Executive of Nnamdi Azikiwe University.
The convocation ceremony is expected to attract members of the academic community, dignitaries, alumni, parents, and well-wishers as the institution celebrates the academic achievements of its graduating students.
