ACHIEVERS UNIVERSITY ANNOUNCES MDCN ACCREDITATION FOR MBBS PROGRAMME, INCREASES ADMISSION QUOTA TO 120
The management of Achievers University has recorded another major academic breakthrough following the approval of pre-clinical accreditation for its Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
In addition to the accreditation approval, the university also secured an increase in its annual medical student admission quota from 50 to 120 students.
MDCN ACCREDITATION VISIT
The approval followed a comprehensive accreditation exercise conducted by an 11-member MDCN visitation team to the institution on April 21, 2026.
During the exercise, the university’s College of Medicine was evaluated based on:
- Medical education standards
- Infrastructure quality
- Laboratory facilities
- Diagnostic equipment
- Clinical training structure
- Academic staffing
- Governance and curriculum implementation
The MDCN team was led by Dr. N. U. Nwakanma.
OFFICIAL APPROVAL FROM MDCN
The approval was officially communicated in a letter dated May 7, 2026, signed by Professor Fatima Kyari.
According to the letter, the Council granted:
- Pre-clinical accreditation for the MBBS programme
- Approval for the expansion of the university’s admission quota from 50 to 120 medical students annually

In another major development, the university also secured full accreditation for seven academic programmes recently presented for re-accreditation.
