AMINU KANO TEACHING HOSPITAL (AKTH) – 2026/2027 ACADEMIC SESSION

The Management of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH), through its College of Nursing Sciences and Post-Basic Programmes, is pleased to invite applications from suitably qualified candidates for admission into its specialized nursing tracks for the 2026/2027 Academic Session.

These programmes are designed to provide Registered Nurses (RN) with advanced clinical competencies, theoretical depth, and evidence-based practical skills necessary for high-level healthcare delivery.

I. SPECIALIZED POST-BASIC PROGRAMMES

Applications are open for the following two-semester (one-year) specialized training courses:

• Critical Care Nursing: Focuses on the management of patients with life-threatening conditions in ICU settings.
• Nephrology Nursing: Specializes in the care of patients with kidney disorders and renal replacement therapies.
• Paediatric Nursing: Dedicated to the healthcare needs of infants, children, and adolescents.
• Perioperative Nursing: Expert training in surgical nursing care, including pre-, intra-, and post-operative management.

II. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

To ensure the highest standard of professional training, applicants must satisfy the following:

1. Professional Status: Candidates must be Registered Nurses (RN) with a valid and current practicing license from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).
   1. Academic Qualifications: Minimum of five (5) O’Level credit passes in not more than two sittings.
   
   * Mandatory Subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
   * Exam Bodies: WAEC, NECO, GCE, NABTEB, or NBAIS.
   * Note: While WAEC and NECO are combinable, NABTEB and NBAIS cannot be combined with any other examination board.
   1. Experience: At least one (1) year of post-qualification experience, preferably within an acute care environment.

III. KEY DATES AND FINANCIAL INFORMATION

Candidates are advised to strictly adhere to the following administrative timeline:

• Application Fee: ₦11,000 (Eleven Thousand Naira only).
• Sales Commencement: 7th April 2026.
• Application Deadline: 7th June 2026.
• Entrance Examination: 7th July 2026.
• Commencement of Lectures: 9th November 2026.

IV. METHOD OF APPLICATION

1. Online Portal: Visit the official AKTH schools portal at www.akthschools.com.
   1. Form Completion: Complete the online application form with accurate personal and academic details.
   2. Payment & Upload: Pay the application fee through the designated platform and upload all required credentials (NMCN license, O'Level results, etc.).
   3. Acknowledgement Slip: Print and keep the acknowledgement slip; this will be required for entry into the examination hall.
