The Governing Council of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS), during its 176th meeting held on Wednesday, 1st April, 2026, has formally approved the appointments of three distinguished academics to key administrative positions. These appointments were made in strict accordance with the provisions of the University Law, aimed at strengthening the leadership framework of the institution.
The University Management is pleased to announce the following individuals who will join the central administration to drive the academic and research goals of the university.
DISTINGUISHED APPOINTEES AND PORTFOLIOS
The newly appointed Deputy Vice Chancellors (DVCs) bring a wealth of experience from diverse academic backgrounds to their respective offices:
1. Professor Muhammad Malami Maishanu
- Department: Accounting
- Portfolio: Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration)
> In this role, Professor Maishanu will oversee the administrative operations, personnel management, and general institutional logistics of the university.
2. Professor Shehu Usman Gulumbe
- Department: Statistics
- Portfolio: Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic)
> Professor Gulumbe will be responsible for the coordination of academic programmes, curriculum development, and the maintenance of high standards in teaching and learning across all faculties.
3. Professor Aliyu Jibrin
- Department: Theriogenology and Animal Production
- Portfolio: Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research, Innovation and Development)
> This critical portfolio places Professor Jibrin at the forefront of the university’s research initiatives, driving technological innovation, grant acquisitions, and institutional development projects.
