The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Stella Ngozi Lemchi, on behalf of the Management, Staff, and Students of Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education, Owerri, has formally invited the university community and the general public to the institution’s Second Matriculation Ceremony. The ceremony is scheduled to take place on Thursday, 19th February 2026, at the University Pavilion. This formal induction serves as the official transition for newly admitted students into the academic and social fabric of the university.
Procession and Attendance Protocol
To maintain the solemnity and administrative order of the ceremony, the university has outlined specific timing and location requirements for all participants:
Commencement of Procession: The formal academic and student procession will begin at 10:00 a.m. prompt.
Assembly Point: All matriculating students are to gather at the Multi-Purpose Court to join the march.
Seating Deadline: All students must be fully processed and seated at the University Pavilion no later than 11:00 a.m.
Mandatory Participation: Participation in the procession and the matriculation oath is a statutory requirement for all fresh students to formalize their studentship.
Logistics and Academic Regalia
The notice, signed by the University Registrar, Dr. (Mrs.) Maria Njoku, emphasizes the importance of following all institutional guidelines regarding the ceremony.
Academic Gowns: The use of the official university academic gown is mandatory for all matriculants. Students are advised to visit their respective Faculty Offices to complete the hiring process.
Payment and Collection: Historically, the university requires evidence of payment (often via the Remita platform) for gown hiring and the "Signing of the Matricula" fee before regalia is issued.
Matriculation Oath: During the ceremony, students will collectively take the Matriculation Oath, pledging to uphold the rules and regulations of the university. This will be followed by the formal signing of the Matriculation Register at the departmental level.
