The management of Kaduna Polytechnic has issued an official appeal to all Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates awaiting mobilization for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to suspend their planned peaceful protest scheduled for Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
The appeal was contained in a special bulletin released on March 10, 2026, and signed by the institution’s Registrar, Muhammed Tanimu.
Management Acknowledges Graduates’ Concerns
In the bulletin, the management of Kaduna Polytechnic acknowledged the genuine concern, frustration, and anxiety being experienced by graduates due to the delay in their mobilization for the national service programme.
According to the Registrar, the institution understands how important participation in the National Youth Service Corps scheme is for graduates, particularly in terms of career development, national exposure, and personal growth.
The management therefore expressed empathy with the affected graduates while assuring them that the institution is actively working to resolve the issue.
Ongoing Efforts to Resolve the Issue
The Polytechnic stated that it is not complacent about the situation and has been maintaining constant communication and liaison with the relevant authorities responsible for NYSC mobilization.
Specifically, the institution disclosed that it has been in continuous contact with:
- The NYSC National Directorate Headquarters
- The Kaduna State Secretariat of NYSC
These engagements are aimed at addressing the challenges and identifying solutions that will enable the affected graduates to be mobilized as soon as possible.
Challenges Affecting Multiple Institutions
The management also clarified that the current delay is not unique to Kaduna Polytechnic alone.
According to the bulletin, several other higher institutions across Nigeria are currently facing similar mobilization difficulties due to systemic and policy-related factors affecting the mobilization process.
This means the situation goes beyond the control of a single institution and requires collaboration between educational institutions and the NYSC authorities at the national level.
Reasons for the Appeal to Cancel the Protest
While recognizing the frustration among graduates, the management appealed for calm and urged them to reconsider the planned protest for security and safety reasons.
The Polytechnic expressed concern that even a peaceful protest could potentially lead to unintended consequences.
Some of the risks highlighted include:
- The possibility of the protest being infiltrated by individuals with ulterior motives.
- The risk that the protest could be hijacked by unscrupulous elements, leading to property damage or violence.
- The potential disruption of the prevailing peace and security within the institution and the wider Kaduna State community.
For these reasons, the management advised graduates to prioritize safety and maintain the stability currently enjoyed on campus and in the surrounding community.
Call for Patience and Cooperation
The Registrar therefore urged all prospective corps members to exercise patience and understanding while the institution continues to advocate on their behalf at the appropriate levels.
The management assured graduates that efforts to resolve the issue are ongoing and that updates will be communicated as soon as meaningful progress is made by the NYSC authorities.
