OOU ANNOUNCES 5TH TRCN INDUCTION CEREMONY FOR EDUCATION GRADUATES
The Faculty of Education, Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye, is set to hold its 5th Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) Induction Ceremony for the 2023/2024 graduating students of the faculty.
The induction ceremony, scheduled for Tuesday, June 2, 2026, will take place at the Otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD) Hall, Main Campus, Ago-Iwoye, beginning at 12:00 noon.
The event marks a significant milestone for graduates who have successfully completed their teacher education programmes and satisfied the professional requirements of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN). During the ceremony, the graduates will be formally inducted into the teaching profession and licensed as professional teachers in Nigeria.
The induction will be conducted by the Registrar and Chief Executive of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, Dr. Ronke Soyombo, who will officially admit the graduates into the teaching profession.
A major highlight of the event will be the induction lecture titled:
“Professional Ethics, Identity, and Accountability in the Conduct of Teachers in the 21st Century.”
The lecture will be delivered by Dr. Lukmon Adeola Kiadese, Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Education, immediate past Provost of Sikiru Adetona College of Education, Science and Technology, Omu-Ajose, and a distinguished alumnus of Olabisi Onabanjo University.
The ceremony will be held under the chairmanship of the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Ayodeji Agboola, while the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Professor (Mrs.) Janet Adetayo, will lead the faculty in celebrating the induction of the newly qualified teachers.
Speaking ahead of the event, the Chairman of the Faculty Induction Committee, Dr. Peter Abayomi Onanuga, described the induction as a vital step in strengthening professionalism within Nigeria’s education sector.
According to him, the exercise goes beyond a ceremonial event, as it reflects TRCN’s commitment to promoting quality teaching standards, professional ethics, and accountability among educators across the country.
The university noted that the annual induction programme further demonstrates the strong partnership between OOU and TRCN in ensuring that graduates are adequately prepared for professional teaching practice and equipped to contribute meaningfully to the development of Nigeria’s education system.
All inductees have been advised to arrive early and come along with all required documents and materials as communicated by the Faculty of Education. Members of the university community, parents, guardians, alumni, education stakeholders, and invited guests are also encouraged to attend the ceremony and celebrate with the graduating teachers as they begin their professional careers.
The induction is expected to bring together education experts, policymakers, academics, and stakeholders in the teaching profession to discuss the future of education and the importance of maintaining high ethical and professional standards in the classroom.
