According to a formal public notice issued by the Electoral Committee (ELCOM), the exercise took place on February 16, 2026, within the university premises. After a thorough vetting and voting process, the committee officially declared the results, returning a new slate of executives to lead the branch for the next two years.
A notable feature of the 2026 election was the emergence of all candidates as unopposed winners, suggesting a strong consensus and unity of purpose within the academic community at Bayero University. Ibrahim Tajo Siraj, a scholar from the Department of Pure and Industrial Chemistry, was elected as the Chairman. Mansur Abdul Muhammad from the Department of Geography was elected as the Welfare Officer, tasked with overseeing the personal and professional support systems for union members. Rounding out the executive team is Sirajo Lawan Bichi from the Department of Mathematical Sciences, who will serve as the Internal Auditor, providing a check on the branch's administrative and financial processes.
